News & Announcements: NACC Northern Performers Series: Ceilidh Friends will perform a concert set at the Northern Arts and Cultural Centre on November 27th. December 6th, 2009: Montreal Massacre vigil in Yellowknife - Moira Cameron will be performing the Wyrd Sisters song "This Memory" in honour of the event. The vigil in Yellowknife will take place in the afternoon at the Salvation Army. ~~~ OBIT: August 1st, 2009: The Yellowknife music scene lost one of its most versatile long-time musicians - Steve Goff. He died suddenly of a heart attack only hours after performing an hour long concert set in Yellowknife's Old Town Ramble 'N Ride festival. He appeared on many local musicians' cds over the years, providing instrumental back-up on a variety of stringed instruments including guitar, mandolin, tenor and 5-stringed banjos. He was one of the founding members of the Yellowknife House Ceilidh Organization which have brought informal song circles to the community each month for 19 years. He was one of the members of the quartet Ceilidh Friends, a local folk group that has performed all over the NWT and Canada and even as far away as Japan. For more information on Steve and the impact he made on people's lives around the world, see the Facebook group that has been set up in his memory: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=113872340818#/group.php?gid=113872340818 CELTARCTIC ONLINE STORE NOW OPEN! Find out what other Northerner recording artists have been up to...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WINTER 2007 Priscilla's Revenge: They are back from Toronto, and although the band did not win an Aboriginal Award, they did a fine job representing the North. The band is hard at work on their next album and are planning to start recording the first week of February. They are hoping to produce a double album, one acoustic disc and one electric disc.
December: Moira Cameron's latest CD of ballads! Check out her website regarding the launch. Aboriginal Awards Nominations! Priscilla's Revenge has been nominated for two Aboriginal Awards. The categories are "Best group or duo" and "Best blues album". Everyone in Yellowknife, and certainly the band, is quite excited about the news. The band also received news that they will be performing at the Awards night and their performance will be broadcast nationally on Global TV. We are very proud of their accomplishment! Good Luck guys!
